Crackdown

The closure of Channels TV wasn’t a one-off, it was an signal of things to come. Yardy's henchmen on Saturday arrested Mr Jonathan Elendu – online publisher of Elendu Reports. According to PM news, the United States-based publisher, who was arrested on arrival in Nigeria, was allegedly linked to Saharareporters, another online Nigerian news agency.
Yardy has a long running battle with the Sahara guys. It appears that someone close to Yardy is leaking sensitive info and pictures to these guys.

Young Yardy

Yardy
Their latest headline “Crude Oil Lifting Contracts As Yar’adua’s Cash Cow” wouldn’t make comfy reading for Yardy and his praise singers. It looks like the cultish secrecy oath thing /ban on certain ministers visiting Yardy isn’t working.
Yardy, this is a combat you and your thugs will find quite taxing to win. Its online baby….no fixed addresses. Ask your guys to stop being ‘tossers’. Ask them to release this man. I dont think he is in the mood to chat...not to the SSS Boss.
Rule of law, my .....

They arrested the guy for being close to Sahara Reporters??? You've gotta be kidding me!!! Only in Nigeria they'll try this nonsense. Wetin sef? Watever happened 2 freedom of speech?
Nothing happened to the freedom of speech in Nigeria... it has never existed.
Voting during elections na total waste of time & energy.
Who you dey vote for?, the same person wey go wan kill you if e get the seat.....Speak out Nigeria we go get there eventually.
I am so glad so many more of us bloggers are picking up this story and thank Waffy for putting me on.
Reporters Without Borders, Kabissa and the committee to Protect Bloggers have picked up on the story over night. But now they have accused Elendu of money laundering as they now know he has no ties with Sahara. And as I said before, Whatever it is Sahra reporters does, that is not cause for them or anyone else to be hunted down. What they do is not illegal. Furthermore, Elendu and other Nigerian bloggers have the constitutionally protected fundamental human right to expression. Interesting that a 'democratically elected' government would infringe upon those rights....
Anyway, will link to your story at nigeriancuriosity.com
Our leaders should go and learn from developed countries. Freedom of Speech is a Right that cannot be suppressed.
People must air their opinion irrespective of what leaders think.
Thanks for giving this story exposure.
WHY IS THIS MAN STILL BEING DETAINED? WHY SSS, WHY?
